The inner ear is fully developed, senses balance.
It’s time to take a diabetes test.
Pregnancy. The baby is rapidly gaining weight, and you can clearly feel it. The baby’s kicks have become more noticeable, and over time you get used to these pleasant signals. However, even during this wonderful period, a woman may experience heaviness in the legs and discomfort in the stomach and bladder area. A careful and caring attitude toward yourself can ease these “unpleasant aspects” of pregnancy.
What happens at the 24th week of pregnancy
The mother’s body continues to adapt to all the baby’s needs. The most important thing now is that the baby grows and develops comfortably in the womb. Therefore, the mother may experience sensations she does not particularly enjoy, such as pain in the lower back and spine. At 24 weeks, the abdomen increases in size, causing a shift in the center of gravity.
For women who exercised before pregnancy or attend prenatal fitness classes, these changes are usually not frightening. They may not feel such pain at all.
It is now time to wear a maternity support band. This device benefits your back and also helps prevent stretch marks. Comfortable footwear allows your feet to rest, even though they already carry a heavy load.
Many women complain of heartburn at this stage. Indeed, due to the displacement of internal organs, heartburn may occur. To prevent it, try eating smaller portions more frequently.
Condition of the fetus at 24 weeks
The baby’s organs and systems are completing their formation process. The stage of active growth and maturation has begun. Reflexes and sensory organs are developing more actively. The baby has already learned many things: sensitivity to light, the taste of amniotic fluid, and the ability to distinguish the mother’s mood.
From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., the baby usually sleeps, and the baby’s schedule does not necessarily coincide with the mother’s. The baby’s body is still very thin, with no fat layer, but movements are quite active. Movements at 24 weeks may signal to the mother what the baby is doing. At night, the baby may become restless, and the mother can soothe the baby by singing a lullaby.
At 24 weeks, the baby’s weight ranges from 350 to 400 grams, and its length reaches 25–30 cm. The womb becomes increasingly tight, so movements and kicks are felt more clearly. Pay attention to them — sometimes the baby is signaling discomfort, loud sounds, or emotional stress.
Emotions — without panic, with love
Some women may feel anxious or even panicked about changes in their appearance, especially those experiencing pregnancy for the first time. There is only one piece of advice here: love your new state. Take photos more often — this will help you see how unique and beautiful you look.
Most importantly, do not cope with stress by eating, as this will only contribute to excessive weight gain.
What you can eat
Your diet at 24 weeks should not differ significantly from previous weeks. Whole grains, stewed vegetables, dairy products, lean meat, and fruit salads should remain part of your daily meals.
Fried and smoked foods, sweets, and pastries only contribute to weight gain. If you follow every craving, restoring your figure after childbirth will be much more difficult.
Ultrasound at 24 weeks
Without specific indications, women at this stage usually undergo only general blood and urine tests. Blood glucose levels are checked to rule out gestational diabetes.
Ultrasound is performed only if indicated — for example, if the pregnancy is complicated or if fetal abnormalities are suspected.
Sensations at 24 weeks of pregnancy
A weekly weight gain of 300–500 grams is considered normal at this stage. Gaining more is excessive. Regular weight monitoring helps prevent complications and makes childbirth easier.
Increased sweating may occur. Avoid deodorants containing artificial preservatives and additives. It is better to use cosmetics designed for pregnant women that do not contain alcohol, parabens, or silicones.
Hair, nails, and skin usually look great during this period. A pregnant woman is naturally beautiful — she radiates happiness. To maintain this condition, walk more and visit the refrigerator less often.
